THE BIBLICAL SYSTEMATIC PREACHING
MANNER IN WORSHIP SERVICE FOR THE GLORY OF THE LORD JESUS
Preaching is a very important service for the LORD
JESUS, because a preacher is a messenger of the LORD. A preacher must always
keep in mind to deliver the message of the LORD in orderly right and systematic
manner (1Cor.14:40),"But all things must be done properly and in an orderly manner"N.A.SB. for the spiritual nourishment, and enlightenment of the
church congregation.
Enumerated hereof are systematic mode of preaching
the word of God, that a preacher must carefully and seriously consider:
(1.)Within six days before the
scheduled date of worship service, the designated authorized exhorter must
earnestly seek the guidance of the LORD JESUS by prayer, to precisely know the
exhortation message of the LORD for the congregation that must be delivered, (1Thess.2:3);
“For our exhortation does not come from error or impurity or by way of deceit;
but just as we have been approved by God (2 Tim.2:15) to be entrusted with the
gospel, so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who examines our hearts”.
The LORD JESUS will put in the mouth
of the exhorter the specific verse He want to be preached by His servant e.g.
(Ex.4:12-15).He does it by giving the exhorter time to read His written words,
through the guidance of God the Holy Spirit, the LORD JESUS will ascertain the
exhortation message He want to be preached by the exhorter (John 16:13).
Authorized exhorters must have clear understanding
of the Biblical definition of exhortation and its important purpose; it is
“parakaleo/ paraklesis” in Greek word that precisely mean; imploration, hortation, solace:-comfort,
consolation, exhortation, intreaty.
Romans 12:1-2 is a good Biblical
example of exhortation; also the exhortation of Apostle Peter in the book of Acts
2:14-40; the exhortation of Apostle Paul, Acts 27:21-25; his exhortation in
giving for the ministry of the LORD JESUS (2 Cor.9:5-15). Another inspiring and
good example of exhortation in the epistle of Apostle Paul to Thessalonians
chapter 4:1-18; the whole chapter 5; also in 2nd Thess. Chapter 3:1-18;
1Tim.2:1-15; chapter6:1-21; 2Tim.4:1-22. The epistle of Apostle Paul to Titus
has many exhortations. All of these were written exhortations of the LORD’S
Apostles, having difference with regards to verbal exhortation by word of
mouth.
(2.) Now in these latter days,
exhortation in worship service is usually by verbal manner premised from the
written word of God. It must be rightly delivered with well defined meaning of
words that must be explained from the original text of the scriptures in Hebrew
and Greek if necessary for the appropriate dividing or dissecting
the word of truth according to (2Tim.2:15); it is for the Biblical right interpretations
of the word of God in principles of exhortations, because the written word of
God have figurative and literal explanation that must be
rightly divided as word of truth.
(3.)In verbal exhortation, it is of
great advantage for an exhorter if he/she has accumulated more verses from
memory, for certain reason that the LORD JESUS mightily inculcate His chosen
word of exhortation in the memory of the exhorter that must be preached. An
exhorter that regularly read the Bible repeatedly all the days yearly, can
easily discern the word of knowledge which the LORD impart in his/her memory for preaching
exhortation.
(4.) If an exhorter don’t regularly
read the Bible, and has not accumulated many Bible verses in memory, neither
he/she has enthusiastic habit to meditate the word of God, it is advisable for
them to diligently use Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible; to be able
to find the listed line up of topic, chapters, and verses of the written word
of God. This methodology is just for beginners in exhortation. Topic for
exhortation must be selected with balance exposition of right and wrong,
i.e.(Deut.30:15-20) it is exhortation of the all qualifying alternative
for all. Correlated verses must be rightly applicable to the topic to avoid
contradictions.
(5.) Avoid irrelevant examples of
personal testimonies that may lead to deviation from the topic of exhortation.
The exhorter need to remain explaining well his/her exhortation with remarkable
focus to the topic, for example; “Put the whole armour of God” (Eph.6:11-17); this topic for exhortation have eleven important items
that inevitably need comprehensive explanations: the
figurative word wrestle, principalities, rulers of darkness of this
world, spiritual wickedness in high places; whole armour of God, loins girt
about with truth, breastplate of righteousness preparation of the gospel of
peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit.
The systematic procedure is
to dissect in explanation the figurative and the literal of all the items one
by one, with appropriate relevant examples from the Bible and from personal
experience if necessary for the topic. Don’t explain the word of exhortation by
ideas or opinion, because opinion or ideas can never be the premise of truth
but whatever exactly conform to “Christological, Christoregulated,
Christonormative, and Christocentric principles, in other words, all Biblical
premise are acceptable.
(6.) Conclusion must always
be persuasion, motivation, and strengthening the commitment of all in the
congregation to be irrevocably all for the LORD JESUS CHRIST alone.
(7.) Be
careful in delivering words of exhortation before giving conclusion, avoid
complex statements that lead to contradiction. The most important in preaching
message for worship service is to admonish the congregation to continuously
renounce sin, compromises to worldly aspirations, and compliance to any
arbitrary reasoning contrary to Biblical principles.
Finally, the
exhorter should not forget to encourage, to build up the faith, hope, and love of every one in
the congregation- to the LORD JESUS and with concern, and acknowledgement by
faith for the rendering of the LORD JESUS’ benevolent provisions for the needs
of all (John 14:13-14; Phil.4:19).
Then the
closing prayer of thanks giving and assertion of love and unwavering trust to
the LORD JESUS CHRIST.
