ALL DESTRUCTIVE CALAMITIES IN THE WORLD
ARE JUDGMENT OF THE LORD JESUS FOR THE WICKEDNESS OF MAN
The written word of God certainly disclosed that all devastating
calamities are rendered judgment of the LORD JESUS for all perpetual sinners
that have no humble willingness to stop doing sin against Him (Lev.26:14-33;
Deut.28:15-68);Luke 13:3).
“And He will judge the world in righteousness; He will execute
judgment for the peoples with equity” (Ps.9:8).N.A.S.B.
It is Biblically well known that the whole planet earth was
immersed in flood water when the LORD’S righteous indignation and wrath was
rendered to all wicked people during the days of Noah (Gen. 6:5-7;7:19-
24).Just Noah’s family was compassionately preserved by the LORD JESUS who
alone is the supreme judge over all ( John 5:22). Noah and his family had found
gracious loving kindness of the LORD. It is the first and most devastating
calamity that happened throughout the created planet earth, and after that
rendered judgment of the LORD, consequentially all the wicked people were wiped
out. Then, He made a covenant with Noah that He will not immerse the earth by
flood water again (Gen.9:11-17) K.J.V.
“And God saw that the wickedness
of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of
his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that He had made
man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart. And the LORD said I will
destroy man whom I had created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast
and the creeping things, and the fowls of the air; for it repented Me that I
had made them”(Gen.6:5-7).K.J.V.
We can imagine the devastating destruction that wiped out many
living things on earth because of the exceeding sinfulness of man.
It is a remarkable lesson for all the people in this generation
that the LORD JESUS is righteous and Holy God who will never tolerate all kinds
of sinfulness.
“The boastful shall not stand before Your eyes:
You hate all who do iniquity” (Ps.5:5) N.A.S.B.
“The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou
hatest all workers of iniquity” (Ps.:5:5). K.J.V
He also judge the righteous who follow Him,“ for He render to every man according to their
deeds” (Ps.62:12;Rom.2:6).K.J.V.
“Also unto thee O LORD belongeth mercy: for
thou rendered to every man according to his work” (Ps.62:12). K.J.V.
The LORD JESUS really love righteousness, because He is Holy,
and in His exemplary majestic holiness He hated iniquity (Heb.1:9). Certainly,
this is the reason why He righteously execute judgment for all the people whom
He knew have adamant heart that will not be subjected to follow Him.
“Thou hast love righteousness, and hated
iniquity; therefore God hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy
fellows”( Heb.1:9).KJV
Pestilence is a
horrible deadly disaster which is the LORD’S rendered expression of His
righteous indignation and wrath whenever He punish obstinate sinners in the
world, even to His servants who transgressed His commandments (2
Sam.24:14-15;1Chron.21:13-14), and also famine e.g. When David persistently
numbered Israel, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against him, because He
doesn’t want all of Israel to be numbered. The LORD commanded the prophet Gad to
speak to David, “Thus the LORD says, I am
offering you three things; choose for yourself one of them, which I will do to
you.” So Gad came to David and told him, and said to him, Shall seven years of famine come to you in your land?
Or
will you flee three months before your foes while they pursue you? Or shall
there be three days of pestilence in your land? Now consider and see
what answer I shall return to Him who sent me.”(2 Sam.24:13).
Then David said to Gad, “I am in
great distress. Let us now fall into the hand of the LORD for His mercies are
great, but do not let me fall into the hand of man,”(2 Sam.24:14).
“So the LORD sent a pestilence upon Israel from
the morning until the appointed time, and seventy thousand men of the people
from Dan to Beersheba died.” (2 Sam.24:15).
Epidemic outbreak of “Ebola virus, Cholera, Malaria, HIV, Typoid
Fever, and any deadly disease:-”is “loimos” in Greek word, deseases, plague. In
Hebrew “deber” in the sense of destroying.
It is the prerogative authority of the judge over all, the LORD
JESUS CHRIST (Ps. 7:11;John 5:22) to render devastating punishment to all
pernicious sinful people because He is forever against sin and unrighteousness.
And certainly the reason why He creates calamities (Is.45:7)His causative
instrumentality in expressing His righteous indignation against obstinate
sinners.
When the prophet Jonah resist the command of the LORD to warn
all the wicked people of Nineveh to stop doing sin against the LORD “ he flee
from the presence of the LORD and went to Tarshish. When he found a ship to
Joppa bound to Tarshish, he paid the fare and traveled therefrom. The LORD
hurled a great wind on the sea and there was a great storm on the sea so that
the ship was about to break up”.(Jonah1:1-4). Consequently, all the sailors on
board the sailing ship were extremely frightened (Jonah 1:5).Therefore the
captain compelled Jonah to ask for his God’s deliverance when he was found lain
down fallen sound asleep below the ship. Jonah told the sailors that he was
fleeing from the presence of the LORD, and then he told them to throw him to
the raging sea because on account of his unwillingness to obey the LORD, the
storm was sent by the LORD to chastised him.
This dangerous event was allowed by the LORD, to let us
understand that He can utilized devastating storm to serve Him for punishment,
to chastise anyone who defy His good will (Ps.119:91).
In fear of the LORD’S wrath and indignation, altogether, the
people of Nineveh had humbly acknowledged their sincere repentance by adhering
to the sent warning of the LORD through Jonah, whom He sent to Nineveh by a
Whale after he was thrown to the sea by the frightened endangered sailors from
the raging storm on board the ship to Tarshish.
Who among all created human kind has inherent power to create
storm and any calamities that exist in this world? No one else but the
ALMIGHTY,(Gen.17:1;2Cor.6:18) LORD,(Phil.2:11;Acts 10:36) GOD,( Is.9:6;
Matt.1:23; 22:32; John 1:1; Rom. 9:5; Titus 2:13; 2Pet.1:1; Rev. 21:7) THE SON
(Matt.3:17;17:5; John 3:16; 3:35; Luke 3:38) INCARNATE, (John 1:14; 1Tim.3 :16)
PERFECT MAN (John 1:47; 1Cor.13:10; 2Cor.5:21) AND ALL IN ALL ( Eph.1:23;
Col.3:11). These are enumerated verses for His seven magnificent, incomparable,
paramount, inherent characteristics, and the LORD who creates calamities for
the punishment of wicked people in the world (Is. 45:7).
He amazingly divided the Red sea for His marvelous rescue for
the children of Israel when Pharaoh and his host followed to recapture them.
Then the LORD by His almighty power drowned Pharaoh and all his host when He
closed the divided sea (Ex.14:21-31).
Sodom and Gomorrah won‘t be utterly destroyed by the wrath and
righteous judgment of the LORD by brimstone and fire if He had found fifty, or
at least ten righteous people with irrevocable faithfulness in following
Him(Gen.18:23-32).
The LORD JESUS Himself is the LORD of the wind and earthquake
and fire (1King 19:11:12) because He is LORD of all (Acts 10:36).
Consider these prophecy of the LORD for “Ariel,” a name for
Jerusalem. “Woe, O Ariel, Ariel the city where David once camped! Add year to
year, observe your feast on schedule. I will bring distress to Ariel, and she
will be a city of lamenting and mourning; And she will be like an Ariel to Me.
I will camp against you encircling you, And I will set siegeworks against you,
And I will raise up battle towers against you. Then you will be brought low;
From the earth you will speak, And from the dust where you are prostrate Your
words will come.Your voice will be like that of a spirit from the ground. And
your speech will whisper from the dust.
But the multitude of your enemies will become like dust. And the
multitude of the ruthless ones like the chaff which blows away; and it will
happen instantly, suddenly. From the LORD of host you will be punished with
thunder and earthquake and loud noise, with whirlwind and tempest and the flame
of a consuming fire. And the multitude of all the nations who wage war against
Ariel, Even all who wage war against her and her stronghold and who distress
her, Will be like a dream a vision of the night (Is.29:1-7).
Whenever the children of Israel departed away from the LORD by
their transgression of disobeying His commandments, they suffered miserable
punishment from the LORD’S righteous indignation against them.
e.g.”Then afterward” declares the LORD, “I will give over
Zedekiah king of Judah and his servants and the people, even those who survive
in this city from pestilence, the sword and the famine, into the hand of
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their foes, and into the
hand of those who seek their lives; and he will strike them down with the edge
of the sword. He will not spare them nor have pity nor compassion (Jer.21:7).
The LORD JESUS have fairness in His righteous judgment, after He
chastised His people in Jerusalem, then He turned to destroy all their enemies
by devastating calamities, All the wicked cannot escape from His punishment by
destructive disaster (Jer.25:29-33).
“For behold, I am beginning to work calamity in this city which
is called by My name, and shall you be completely free from punishment? You
will not be free from punishment; for I am summoning a sword against all the
inhabitants of the earth,” declares the LORD of host.“Therefore you shall
prophesy against them all these words and you shall roar from on high And utter
His voice from His holy habitation; He will roar mightily against His fold. He
will shout like those who tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the
earth”.
“A clamor has come to the end of the earth, Because the LORD has
a controversy with the nations.”(Jer.25:31).
In the days of the sinless estate of Adam and Eve, no calamities
ever happened in their generations, (Gen. chapters 1-2) but when their
descendants multiplied greatly, the more sin abound, therefore the LORD in His
righteous indignation and wrath executed His judgment by horrendous flood water
that immersed the whole planet earth (Gen. 7:23-24).
The LORD JESUS who created the entire world
(Is.44;24;45:12,18; John 1:3,10; Rom.11:36; Col.1:16; Heb.1:2,10); sent by God
the Father as the executor, doer of the Father’s “Eternal Purpose and will”
(Eph.3:11; John 6:38), fulfilled His covenant with Noah (Gen.9:11-17) that He
will not destroy again the whole created earth and all living creatures thereof
by flood water, notwithstanding, He continuously render judgment for wicked
people whom He certainly knew will perpetually, and adamantly, persist in sinfulness
against Him. The reason why severe devastating calamities continuously happen
in subsequent occurrences in many nations in these latter days according to the
LORD’S prophesied eventualities (Matt. 24:7; Mark 13:8; Luke 21:11). The LORD JESUS frequently visits many sinful nations
by destructive typhoon, flood water, hurricane, land slide, famine, pestilence,
sword and earthquake etc…because not great multitude in many nations have
sincere and willing heart to depart from sin (John 3:19).
Many
people don’t really know that the LORD’S righteous indignation and wrath will
not be rendered just to any nations with integrity of humility, and faithful
obedience to His commandments ( Ex.20:6; John 14:21,23).
Sword is one of the most devastating punishment of the
LORD to obstinate sinners in the world, four hundred fourteen times (414) that
sword had been mentioned in the entire Bible. In Hebrew word it is “chereb”a
cutting instrument (from its destructive effect) as a knife or sword or other
sharp implement:- axe, dagger, knife, mattock, sword tool, references from “Strong’s Hebrew
and Greek Dictionary of the Bible.”In Greek word it is “machaira” a knife, i.e.
dirk; figurative war, judicial punishment:-sword. Many wars had been recorded
in World History, and the number of people killed in battle were immensely
great.All events of war that happened in the world were judgment of the LORD
JESUS for sinful nations.All the weapons of war in these latter days for mass
destruction are tremendously capable, to annihilate the entire population of a
large city anywhere in this planet earth.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki, two populous city of Japan was extremely
destroyed by atomic bomb, August 6,1945.The LORD JESUS can utilize this human
made highly technological weapon to render His wrath to obstinate sinners of
any nation, e.g. see (Jer.50:25).

forth the weapons of His indignation, For it is a work of the LORD God of hosts
in the land of the Chaldeans” ( Jer. 50:25)
“The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is His
name” (Ex.15:3) K.J.V.
“The LORD is a warrior: the LORD is His name”
(Ex. 15:3) N.A.S.B.
‘The LORD utter His voice before His army, Surely His camp is
very great, for strong is He who carries out His word. The day of the LORD is
indeed great and very awesome ( Joel 2:11) N.A.S.B.
The LORD JESUS in His absolutely righteous judgment of rendering
severe punishment, never spared even His chosen people Israel whenever
they transgress the commandments, statutes, and covenant of the LORD for them.In
the book of His prophets it had been written in many circumstances, He
destructively punished His people Israel in their idolatrous apostasy. He also
knew well that they will certainly return to Him in the latter days to remain
forever His people for His majestic glory (Zech.12:10-14).
Earthquake is a terrible disaster, by this
exceedingly destructive calamity the LORD JESUS had exterminated many wicked
people in many nations. In July 16, 1990, a 7.7 magnitude of a devastating
earthquake had shaken northern Philippines, five thousand people died by the
strong tremor, thus, the City of Baguio had experienced severe destruction, a
nine story hotel collapsed.
Dagupan City of Pangasinan also suffered destruction.It was
August 17, 1976, a 7.9 magnitude of strong earthquake hit Mindanao, the
approximate death toll was 5,000 to 8,000 people. February 5,2012 when a 6.9
intensity of earthquake shaken Negros Oriental, 50 people died thereof.
THE TEN DEVASTATING EARTHQUAKE RECORDED IN
HISTORY
1 “.Assam Tibet 1950- Magnitude 8.6 at least 1,500 people were
killed across eastern Tibet and Assam,India, when this temblor shook the
region.”
2 “Northern Sumatra, Indonesia, 2005-Magnitude 8.6, more than
one thousand people were killed, with hundreds more injured.”
3 “Rat Islands Alaska, April 2, 1965 (8.7)
Magnitude. The worst of damage attributed to to this earthquake was caused by a
tsunami, reported to be about 10 meters high on Shemya Islands. The waves
caused flooding on Amchitka Islands causing 10,000 US dollars of property
damaged. No deaths or injuries were reported.
4 “Ecuador 1906- Magnitude 8.8, killed 500 to 1,500 people.The
tsunami spread along the coast of Central America and even stretched to San
Francisco and Japan.5 Offshore
5 Maule Chile,2010 Magnitude 8.8, at least 500 people were
“ killed and 8,000 were displaced by the earthquake and tsunami that hit
central Chile. More than 1.8 million people were affected and the total
economic loss were estimated at 30 billion US dollars.”
6 “Kamchatka Peninsula Russia, 1952- Magnitude 9.0, the world’s
first recorded magnitude 9.0 earthquake. The quake generated 43 foot tsunami.”
7 “Near the east cost of Honshu Japan, March 11, 2011-Magnitude
9.0. It triggered tsunami that killed an estimated 29, thousand people and
damaged some nuclear reactors. This earthquake is the largest recorded in
Japan.”
8 “Off the west coast of Northern Sumatra 2004- 9.1. This quake
was the third largest earthquake in the world, and largest since 1964 in Prince
William Sound, Alaska. In total, 227,898 people were killed or missing and
presumed dead and about 1.7 million people were displaced by the earthquake and
subsequent tsunami in countries in South East Asia and Africa”.
9 “Prince William Sound Alaska 1964 magnitude 9.2 a great
earthquake with ensuing tsunami took 128 lives and caused about 311 million USD
in property loss”.
10 “Chile 1960-9.5 magnitude- approximately 1,655 people were
killed during the largest earthquake ever recorded. The quake triggered tsunami
that killed 61 people in Hawaii, 138 in Japan, and 32 in the Philippines.
EARTHQUAKE PHILIPPINES: 5 DEADLIEST TREMORS IN HISTORY
1“With a 7.9 magnitude and almost 3,000 casualties,
this Mindanao earthquake is officially the strongest and deadliest
earthquake in the Philippine history. Almost 4o,ooo people in Region 9 and 12
were also left homeless by this tragedy”
.
2“On July 6,1990 one of the strongest earthquake to ever struck
the country occurred in several areas of Central Luzon and Cordillera region.
This 7.8 magnitude tremor resulted to a total of 1,621 deaths and serious
damage in properties.”
3Casiguran earthquake (1968) This 7.3
magnitude earthquake
killed a total of 270 people and also caused massive land slides and tsunami in
Casiguran Aurora. Almost 300 hundred people were also killed when the “Ruby
Tower”inBinondo collapsed as a result of the tremor.
4.Mindoro earthquake (1994) a total of 1530 houses in the
coastal area of Baco and Calapan, Oriental Mindoro were swept away by a tsunami
generated by a 7.1-magnitude earthquake. The tragedy also killed 78 people.
5. “Bohol earthquake (2013) a 7.2 magnitude tremor that
killed more than 150 people, destroyed century- old churches and affected more

The LORD of host said of the things that He will do against all
the enemies of Israel; “But the multitude of
your enemies will become like fine dust, and multitude of the ruthless ones
like the chaff which blows away; and it will happen instantly suddenly. From
the LORD of host you will be punished with thunder and earthquake and loud noise,
With whirlwind and tempest and the flame of a consuming fire. And the multitude
of nations who wage war against Ariel, Even all who wage war against her
stronghold, and who distress her, Will be like a dream, a vision of the night
(Is.29:5-7).
It is clearly comprehensible that destructive calamities are the
LORD’S instrument for punishment, it is not premised from many peoples belief
that itis inevitable course of nature. For the contemptible sin of Adam, the
whole planet earth was cursed by the LORD JESUS who created the world
(Is.44:24;45:7,11-12; John1:3; Col.1:16; Heb.1:2;10).
During the sinless state of Adam and Eve, no occurrence of
calamities ever happened, not even drops of rain (Gen.2:5-6). But then when
they transgressed the instruction of the LORD, judgment of curse and death was
rendered to them, the main reason why chaotic situation ever happened in this
world.
All of us must carefully consider the prophesied words of the LORD that will
eventually happen at any moment He intend to do it.
“Behold, the day
of the LORD is coming, Cruel, with fury and burning anger, to make the land
desolation; and I will exterminate its sinners from it. For the stars of heaven
and their constellations Will not flush for their light; The sun will be dark
when it rises and the moon will not shed its light. Thus I will punish the
world for its evil And the wicked for their iniquity; I will also put an end to
the arrogance of the proud and abase the haughtiness of the ruthless. I will
make mortal man scarce than pure gold”And mankind than the gold of Ophir,
Therefore I will ake the heavens tremble, and the earth will be shaken om its
place at the fury of the LORD of host In the day of His burning
anger”.(Is.13:913). All these
eventualities will continuously be precautions for all of us, that the LORD’S
impending wrath be not for us, therefore all must have sincere renouncement of
all sinfulness by fixed determination to stop doing sin ( Lev.chptr.26;
Deut.chptr.28; Luke 13:3).
The incomparable imminent shaking of the heavens and the
earth will certainly happen by the explicit prophecy of the LORD JESUS Himself:
This expression, “Yet once more” denotes the removing of the
things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which
cannot be shaken may remain.
Therefore
since we received a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude,
by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; for
our God is a consuming fire”. (Heb.12:27-29). “The conclusion when all has been
heard, is fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every
person” (Ecc.12:13; John 14:21,23).
THE
LORD’S INDIGNATION AGAINST THE SINFUL KINGDOM
“Behold, the eyes of the LORD GOD
are on the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from the face of the earth;
Nevertheless, I will not totally destroy the house of Jacob,”
Declares the LORD. “For behold, I’m commanding and I
will shake the house of Israel among all nations As grain is shaken in a sieve,
But not a kernel will fall to the ground.”
All the sinners of my people will die by the sword, Those who
say, “ The calamity will not overtake or
confront us”Amos 9:8-10
The
LORD righteously render His judgment even to His chosen people Israel in their
apostasy but mercifully restored them when they humbly departed from sin.
“ In that day I will raise up the fallen booth of
David, and wall up its breaches; I will
also raise up its ruins And rebuild it as in the days of old; That they may
possess the remnant of Edom And all the nations who are called y my name”
Declares the LORD who does this (Amos 9:11-12).
These
declarations of the LORD will always be for our enlightenment that we be no
longer remain in sinfulness against Him all the days of our lives.
“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter;Fear God and keep His commandments: for this the whole duty of man. For God shall ring every work into judgment with every secret thing whether it be good, or whether it be evil "(Eccles.12:13-14).
